I started with State Insurance in their Service Bureau which specialised in large complex and national risks. From there I progressed to insurance broking working for excellent firms such as Health Lambert NZ (co-owner), Heath Lambert London, Marsh (exec director), Mike Henry (co-owner) and Crombie Lockwood (Head of Schemes). My broking career has been focused on attaining group coverage and delivering services at a price point that aren’t readily available elsewhere. The mechanism is known as Affinity or Group Scheme Programmes and its simply about a greater understanding of the risks and then leveraging an industry subset to deliver a better than market outcome.
Its about risk management and not just selling a client another insurance product!
Its way too easy to assume that because a client sits within a particular industry, that their types of insurable risks they face can be easily determined. Truly understanding a client’s exact risk profile comes via a process which include steps such as risk assessments via one-on-one audits or via larger risk analysis workshops. Risk models use factors such as impact, likelihood, materiality, asset liquidity, management competence, quality of and adherence to internal controls, degree of change or stability and so much more.

Chris Bull is our director based in Auckland.
Chris has over 23 years underwriting, broking and relationship management experience. He commenced his insurance career at Vero Insurance where he was responsible for managing large business partner relationships. His time at Vero established a strong insight into how insurance underwriters operate and assess risk. This consistently enables him to ensure the best client risk solution outcomes.
He then spent 13 years working as both an Executive Broker and Business Development Manager at Crombie Lockwood, building strong commercial relationships with medium to large commercial clients as well as maintaining and growing the business relationship between Crombie Lockwood and New Zealand’s largest bank, where his focus was on helping their business owners understand and optimise their business risks as well as insurance programme development, placement, and maintenance.
Chris has knowledge in all areas of commercial risk specialising in construction, cyber and national group schemes.
Someone of Chris’s calibre, technical knowledge and client connection skills is a rare mix in today’s insurance business, which is why we are very delighted to have him as a director of our national operation.

Monique Bond is the director of Clarity Insurance Brokers Southern based in Christchurch.
Monique brings her incredible insurance experience of more than 25 plus years to benefit our clients. Some of her key roles have included; CEO of Master Build Services, Claims Administrator at Vero Insurance, Liability Broker at Marsh, Reinsurance Underwriter at General & Cologne RE, Risk Manager at Fletchers, Internal Auditor at AMI, Insurance Manager at Gough Group, Commercial underwriter at NZI and Executive Account Manager at IC Frith / Abbotts.
In addition to this she has spent the last eleven years of resolving Canterbury earthquake claims while overseeing her clients’ insurance.
Whilst Clarity represents clients all around New Zealand on both an individual basis and within large group insurance programmes, we are very privileged take on someone of Monique’s calibre and experience to manage our new southern branch in Christchurch.

Andy heads up our marketing department and plays a critical role across our many insurance schemes and facilities.
Andy thrives on the art of digging into each angle of a brand or project, finding the thread of a powerful story and developing it into something that makes you sit up and take notice. It’s a process he’s carefully honed over a long, varied career working across the full spectrum of design – from branding to advertising to digital and spatial.
Andy has previously been a partner in two design agencies, and held Creative Director, Head of Brand and Head of Design roles in both client and agency settings. He has worked with global brands such as the ICC (International Cricket Council), Fiat and Alfa Romeo, plus well-known Kiwi brands including New Zealand Cricket, NZ Rugby Union, The Bank of New Zealand, IAG, State Insurance, Countdown, Briscoes and Rebel Sport.
He is well backed by a network of brilliant creative partners and freelancers, which allows him to manage projects of almost any size and complexity. Skilled strategists, PR experts, copywriters and content creators, all with powerful portfolios of their own. At the same time, Andy personally manages all design components, bringing his drive for brilliance to every brief he undertakes. In his own words – “I believe that to create something truly exceptional, it’s not enough to love design. You have to love storytelling”.
