Jason Harkness began his career at State Insurance in their Service Bureau, which specialised in large, complex, and national risks. He soon transitioned into insurance broking, building a distinguished career with some of the industry's most respected firms, including Health Lambert NZ (as co-owner), Heath Lambert London, Marsh (as Executive Director), Mike Henry (as co-owner), and Crombie Lockwood (as Head of Schemes).Throughout his broking career, Jason has maintained a strong focus on creating group coverage solutions that deliver exceptional value and service levels not readily available elsewhere. This strategy—commonly referred to as Affinity or Group Scheme Programmes—relies on a deep understanding of specific industry subsets and leveraging that insight to achieve outcomes that exceed standard market offerings.


For Jason, insurance is not simply about selling products—it's about genuine risk management. He challenges the common assumption that a client's industry automatically defines their insurable risks. Instead, he employs a rigorous, consultative process involving risk assessments, one-on-one audits, and group workshops to uncover the true nature of a client's risk profile. His models consider a wide range of factors including impact, likelihood, materiality, asset liquidity, management competence, internal controls, and the degree of organisational change or stability.

Director
Chris Bull is our director based in Auckland where he has over 23 years underwriting, broking and relationship management experience. He commenced his insurance career at Vero Insurance where he was responsible for managing large business partner relationships. His time at Vero established a strong insight into how insurance underwriters operate and assess risk. This consistently enables him to ensure the best client risk solution outcomes.


He then spent 13 years working as both an Executive Broker and Business Development Manager at Crombie Lockwood, building strong commercial relationships with medium to large commercial clients as well as maintaining and growing the business relationship between Crombie Lockwood and New Zealand’s largest bank, where his focus was on helping their business owners understand and optimise their business risks as well as insurance programme development, placement, and maintenance.

Chris has knowledge in all areas of commercial risk specialising in construction, cyber and national group schemes.
Someone of Chris’s calibre, technical knowledge and client connection skills is a rare mix in today’s insurance business, which is why we are very delighted to have him as a director of our national operation.

Andy Gilmore

Andy heads up our marketing department and plays a critical role across our many insurance schemes and facilities. Andy thrives on the art of digging into each angle of a brand or project, finding the thread of a powerful story and developing it into something that makes you sit up and take notice. It’s a process he’s carefully honed over a long, varied career working across the full spectrum of design – from branding to advertising to digital and spatial.

Andy has previously been a partner in two design agencies, and held Creative Director, Head of Brand and Head of Design roles in both client and agency settings. He has worked with global brands such as the ICC (International Cricket Council), Fiat and Alfa Romeo, plus well-known Kiwi brands including New Zealand Cricket, NZ Rugby Union, The Bank of New Zealand, IAG, State Insurance, Countdown, Briscoes and Rebel Sport.

He is well backed by a network of brilliant creative partners and freelancers, which allows him to manage projects of almost any size and complexity. Skilled strategists, PR experts, copywriters and content creators, all with powerful portfolios of their own. At the same time, Andy personally manages all design components, bringing his drive for brilliance to every brief he undertakes.
